FDA issues compliance guide for small entities

The FDA announced the availability of a small entity compliance guide (SECG) to help small businesses understand the requirements of the final rule on the sanitary transportation of human and animal food (sanitary transportation rule). SECGs are designed to help small businesses meet federal standards.

Small businesses with more than $500,000 in annual revenue have until April 6, 2018, to comply with the rule. In the guide, shippers, loaders, carriers and receivers covered by the sanitary transportation rule will find descriptions of the rule requirements in a question-and-answer format. The SECG covers:

  • Who must comply with the rule and when

  • Vehicles and equipment

  • Transportation operations

  • Training

  • Record keeping

  • Waivers

  • Definitions

Additional resources such as a fact sheet, Q&A, and a Sanitary Transportation Webinar are available at the homepage for the final Sanitary Transportation Rule.
