South Carolina man admits to illegal CDL testing

A third-party commercial driver's license tester who had been authorized by the State of South Carolina solely to test employees of the North Spartanburg Fire Department pled guilty on Aug. 31 to making false statements related to the unauthorized administering of CDL tests to drivers not employed by the fire department. Thomas Lindsey also did not require all drivers to perform pre-trip inspections, basic controls or road tests and used unapproved locations to conduct testing, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Office of Inspector General.
